Precision Optics for Custom Applications

Giai Photonics Co., Ltd. designs and manufactures precision optical components, including optical filters, multi-element lenses, and coated optics, supported by engineering, optical fabrication, and metrology.

GIAI also works with optical lenses, prisms, mirrors, beamsplitters, optical windows, infrared optics, and other components used to transmit, reflect, split, focus, or redirect light within optical systems.

A custom optics project usually begins with the function of the component inside the optical system.

Depending on the project, that may mean defining a wavelength range, transmission or reflection target, blocking requirement, optical material, coating, geometry, dimensions, or the mechanical constraints around the optic.

If a drawing is available, send it with the inquiry. If the project starts from an existing component or sample, include the application and the changes you need.

Inspection methods and acceptance criteria are selected according to the requirements of the individual optical component.

History

A Message from Lin

When GIAI was established in 2008, our direction was straightforward: build a company that could take an optical requirement and turn it into a component that works in the customer’s actual system. That remains the way I think about our business today.

In custom optics, the useful conversation usually starts with the details. A drawing, a sample, a wavelength range, a coating target, a dimensional requirement, or simply an explanation of what the component needs to do can change the way a project should be approached. I want our team to understand those details before we talk about production.

Over the years, GIAI has continued to develop its work around optical fabrication, coating, and inspection. For me, these are not separate steps. They are parts of the same responsibility: the finished component should be made and checked against the requirements agreed for the project.

I also believe that good cooperation is built through clear communication. Customers should be able to discuss technical questions with us, understand what information is needed, and receive practical feedback when a specification needs further clarification. Some projects begin with a complete drawing; others begin with an existing sample or an application problem. Our role is to help move that information toward a manufacturable optical component.

As GIAI continues to grow, I want us to remain focused on the fundamentals: understand the requirement, respect the specification, manufacture carefully, inspect what matters, and build relationships that can continue beyond a single order.
