Quality documentation for optical components
Certifications & Compliance
Quality-system certificates and compliance documents matter when an optical component moves from engineering approval into supplier qualification and production. GIAI provides documentation for applicable projects and supports customer review of certification, material and inspection requirements.
Management system certification
Current certification documentation
Certification documents are used during supplier approval, quality-system review and project qualification. When a controlled certificate copy is required, GIAI can provide the document for review with the information needed to confirm the certificate holder, scope and validity.
ISO 9001 Quality Management System
Quality management system certification for the applicable certified organization and scope. Request the current controlled certificate copy when it is required for supplier qualification or project records.
What a certificate covers
Management systems and product requirements are different
A quality management system certificate applies to the organization and activities defined by the certificate scope. It should not be read as a blanket product approval for every optical filter, lens, prism, window, mirror or coating.
Product and material requirements are handled at the component level. The relevant drawing, substrate, coating specification, restricted-substance requirement and customer acceptance criteria should be identified before production documentation is finalized.
For supplier qualification
- Confirm the legal entity named on the certificate.
- Check the certified activities and facility or site covered by the scope.
- Confirm the certificate number, issuing body and validity dates.
- Match the requested documentation to the optical component and end-use requirement.
Material and project documentation
Documents are matched to the part and project
Optical components may require different records depending on material, coating, drawing controls, regulatory restrictions and customer quality procedures. The document set should follow the actual purchase specification rather than a generic certificate package.
Material and restricted-substance records
For applicable components, documentation can be reviewed against the specified material or restricted-substance requirement. State the required document type and revision at the quotation stage.
Inspection and acceptance records
Drawing-defined dimensions, optical characteristics and acceptance criteria should identify which inspection records are required with samples, first articles or production lots.
Project-specific forms
Supplier questionnaires, declarations and customer-controlled templates can be reviewed as part of the project documentation package when they are submitted with the relevant requirements.
Certificate verification
Check the document, not just the logo
A certificate is useful only when it can be matched to the company, scope, site and validity required by your supplier-approval process. Use the controlled certificate copy for formal review.
- StandardConfirm the standard and revision shown on the certificate.
- Certificate holderMatch the legal entity to the supplier being qualified.
- Certification bodyIdentify the organization that issued the certificate.
- Certificate numberRecord the unique certificate reference used for verification.
- Issue and validityCheck the issue date and current validity or expiry information.
- Certification scopeReview the activities, products or processes stated in the scope.
- Certified siteConfirm which manufacturing site or facility is covered.
- Project relevanceSeparate management-system certification from part-specific compliance.
