Editorial Policy

GIAI publishes technical content to help readers understand optical components, specifications, manufacturing considerations and application requirements. This policy explains how we approach research, source selection, technical claims, updates and corrections.

Purpose and audience

Technical information for people working with optical components

Our articles are written for engineers, product teams, system integrators, procurement professionals and other readers who need clear information about optics without unnecessary sales language.

Topics may cover optical filters, lenses, prisms, windows, mirrors, beamsplitters, coatings, infrared optics and application-specific optical components. The level of detail varies with the subject, but the editorial goal remains the same: explain the optical principle, define the relevant specification language and separate established facts from project-specific requirements.

Product and manufacturing content is treated differently from general educational material. A general explanation of a bandpass filter, for example, should not be used to imply that every GIAI filter has the same wavelength range, blocking level, substrate, tolerance or inspection method.

What readers should expect

Clear terminology, restrained claims, specification-aware explanations and corrections when material errors are identified.

Research and source selection

Use the source that is closest to the technical claim

Different claims require different evidence. Editorial work should start with the material most directly connected to the component, specification or optical principle being discussed.

    Drawings, approved specifications, product documentation and other controlled information take priority for product-specific dimensions, materials, coating requirements and acceptance criteria.

    GIAI technical and manufacturing information

    First-party technical pages, process information and inspection documentation are used for statements about GIAI products, manufacturing work and quality practices.

    Standards and authoritative technical references

    Relevant standards, established optics references and manufacturer documentation may be used to define terminology, measurement concepts or generally accepted optical behavior.

    Secondary sources

    Secondary sources can help with context and terminology, but they should not override a controlled specification, primary technical reference or documented product requirement.

Technical accuracy and source control

Match each claim to the appropriate source

General optical explanations, product specifications and manufacturing statements require different kinds of supporting information. We keep those categories separate so that general technical guidance is not presented as product-specific performance.

General technical information

Definitions, optical principles and engineering explanations are based on established technical references appropriate to the subject.

Product specifications

Dimensions, materials, wavelength information, coating characteristics and other product-specific values should come from the applicable drawing, specification or product documentation.

Manufacturing information

Descriptions of fabrication, coating, inspection and other capabilities should reflect documented GIAI operations rather than assumptions based on common industry practice.

Specification verification

Project values stay tied to the project

Optical specifications are context-sensitive. Transmission, reflection, blocking, optical density, angle of incidence, surface quality, wavefront performance, dimensional tolerances and inspection methods can differ substantially between components.

Values shown for one component are not treated as universal GIAI capabilities. When a page discusses a custom project, the applicable drawing or agreed technical requirement remains the controlling reference.

Calculations and examples

Keep illustrative examples separate from product data

Equations and worked examples may be used to explain optical relationships. Illustrative diagrams and example values are identified separately from measured product data and guaranteed specifications.

Graphs, diagrams and simplified optical paths are educational aids unless a page explicitly identifies them as data from a defined test or product specification.

Commercial transparency

Educational content and commercial information are kept distinguishable

GIAI is an optical-component manufacturer and supplier. Technical pages may link to relevant products, manufacturing information or contact options, but commercial context should not change the technical meaning of the content.

We avoid presenting promotional language as technical evidence. A product recommendation should be based on the reader’s optical requirement, including factors such as wavelength, spectral behavior, geometry, material, coating, angle of incidence, mechanical fit and inspection criteria where relevant.

Images and diagrams

Visuals should clarify the subject without inventing evidence

Photography, diagrams and other visuals are selected to support the technical explanation. Product or facility photographs should represent the subject described. Illustrations should not display invented certification marks, measurement values, test results or technical labels that could be mistaken for verified data.

Publication, updates and corrections

Technical pages should remain useful after publication

Optical products, internal documentation and technical guidance change over time. Articles should be updated when a material change affects accuracy, product relevance or the reader’s ability to interpret the information correctly.

    Where practical, articles should show a publication date and an updated date when substantial revisions are made.

    Material corrections

    Errors involving specifications, optical principles, product identification or other information that could materially change interpretation should be corrected promptly after confirmation.

    Minor edits

    Spelling, grammar, formatting and clarity edits may be made without changing the technical meaning of the page.

  4. 04

    Superseded information

    When older content no longer reflects the applicable product or technical information, it should be revised, clearly qualified or removed from active use.
